My shit is getting pissed off. I do not generally use quotes that are attributable to my brother, but that phrase really works. Ever since Barack Obama has been in the public eye, there has been talk about the possibility that he is or was Muslim. And once again he, his campaign, his supporters, and his relatives are “denying the rumor.”
I guess you know where I’m going with this . . . Why should a person have to deny they belong to a particular religion and why is someone suggesting you might be Muslim a rumor to begin with?
If someone suggested I was Methodist would it be rumor-worthy? What if someone called me Swedish? Would I have to go out and say “I am not now, nor have I ever been, Swedish, although I respect Swedes and think the meatballs are just great.”
Everyone is busy patting themselves on their backs for their own open-mindedness at potentially voting for a black man or a woman, but God forbid (pun intended) a Muslim, a Jew, or anyone else who isn’t a straight-down-the-middle all-purpose-Christian try to run.

In these races, the way you sneeze can apparently be dissected to show you are for or against clubbing baby seals, so it’s no surprise that the Religion Card can be a Very Big Deal amongst those who analyze this stuff to death.
And I think Mitt the Mormon would probably agree with you.

Please don’t get me going on this or my blood pressure will go up. I applaud the Democrats for supporting a woman and minority, but they always seem to forget it’s not just Democrats voting.
I hope I am wrong, but I have a feeling John McCain’s got this election sewed up. (God help us then!)
GRRR….WE NEEDED JOHN EDWARDS!
