. . . Why I am the most excellent of gardeners.
Reason number one is shown below: A Japanese maple looking nearly picture-perfect.
Last fall I was given a twig with about seven leaves on it; it was an offshoot from one of several Japanese maples a friend has. I planted it in a pot, covered it with a heavy plastic bag to protect it from the squirrels and eventual winter weather, and watched it like a hawk.
Today it is about eighteen inches tall, lush with foliage, and ready to become a real tree, Geppetto! (Sorry about that.)
The second demonstration of my garden prowess made have less merit; one of two olives on my olive tree.
But I’ll bet you don’t have any olives in your yard, so there.
A pretty Cosmo, for fans of the flower (or the drink).
And a Guy Wolff pot filled with summer savory; the pot was given to me prior to Guy becoming famous and no longer affordable to those who give me gifts. (My mom got it for 25% off because it had the chip, which I think adds character anyway.)

I have 4 Guy Wolff pots….I wish I could keep things alive long enough to enjoy them more.
